The State University of New York (SUNY) system recently expanded the number of pet-friendly housing options available to its students.
SUNY Canton doubled the size of its Pet Wing in Mohawk Hall in response to increased demand from students seeking pet-friendly housing options. The Pet Wing, which previously contained 70 beds, has been expanded to accommodate 140 beds for students seeking accommodations for them and their pets. In addition to cats, fish, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, and ferrets, students can request to bring other animals as well.
SUNY Canton has developed a reputation as being particularly hospitable to students with pets, having previously made several “best of” lists for pet-friendly schools.
“SUNY Canton was a pioneer in pet-friendly housing. Our mission has always been to enhance the community-like atmosphere that we are known for, and the Pet Wing plays an important role in achieving that.”
