PetFoodNews has published an article covering some of the latest trends to be seen in new pet food product launches over the past year.
Data collected by Innova Market Insights between September 2015 and September 2016 suggest a strong tendency for new pet food products to appeal to health-related concerns. Over 90% of all new pet food products included at least one claim about the health benefits of the product. Of those, claims about vitamin and mineral content were the most common, followed by claims about digestive health and those about fatty acid content. These, along with claims about allergens, appear to closely follow trends observed in human food packaging and marketing.
