AAHA Updates Standards of Accreditation for 2019
The American Animal Hospital Association has revised its Standards of Accreditation for 2019 to reflect recent changes in recommended best practices in veterinary medicine.
Among the changes made in this most recent revision include:
- More detailed protocols for patient assessments made prior to the administration of sedatives and anesthetics
- More detailed protocols for handling client communication before and after animal euthanization
- More detailed protocols for the labeling of medication
- Changes to protocols for presurgical assessment

The changes to the AAHA’s Standards of Accreditation will take effect January 1, 2019.
