A Note From Executive Director, Bob Vetere
What better way to inform members of Congress about the importance of pet ownership than to bring pets directly to Capitol Hill? We did exactly that at this year’s Pet Night on Capitol Hill event where the Pet Leadership Council teamed up with the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) and Pet Food Institute (PFI) for an evening full of adorable pets and meaningful conversations about how pet-friendly policies strengthen the human-animal bond.
During the event, attendees enjoyed a special appearance from the 2019 Westminster Best in Show Winner, the announcement of winners of the Animal Health Institute’s Cutest Pets on Capitol Hill Contest, hands-on experiences with Pet Partners registered therapy animals, and adoptable pets from the Humane Rescue Alliance. The Pets’ Best Friend Award was also awarded to several members of Congress in recognition of their support for pet-friendly legislation. As people came together across the political spectrum, the event proved that the importance of pets to human health and wellbeing remains a bipartisan issue. Thank you to everyone who joined us for another successful Pet Night on Capitol Hill.
Please enjoy this week’s readings.
